Hunting calendars 2011/2012: Legambiente and Coldiretti have sent a joint note to the national hunting table for the revision of some hunting periods.
On the occasion of the discussion on hunting calendars which took place at the national hunting table, coordinated by the councilor of the Puglia region, Dario Stefano, Legambiente and Coldiretti sent a communication to all members, accompanied by a joint note and from the formulation of proposals on the revision of some hunting periods established in the Ispra Guidelines for migratory bird species.
The participants in the National Hunting Table are:
- the Regions and Autonomous Provinces of Trento and Bolzano
- Ispra
- UZI
- the most representative organizations of the agricultural sector (Coldiretti, Confagricoltura and Cia)
- the recognized National Hunting Associations (Arcicaccia, Federcaccia, Anuu, Enalcaccia, Italcaccia, Libera Caccia, Ente Produttori Game)
- environmental associations (Legambiente, Fare Verde, Lipu and Wwf)
- the National Animal Protection Agency
- the Italian Alpine Club
Legambiente and Coldiretti highlighted, to the members of the Table, how they sincerely appreciated the unanimous, convinced and repeated statements made in the various meetings held by all the participants that they wanted to reach a positive solution to the issues under discussion (in order : hunting calendars, exemptions and damage caused by fauna) and, therefore, it was considered important to express a concern that emerged following the last meeting.
The perceived danger is that the positive work started and, hoped for by all, could be undermined if the interpretation by the members of the Table prevails, that the contributions requested must not be oriented towards the search for a correct position (with respect to the forecasts of the law 157/92 and the technical documents provided by ISPRA) and objectively able to reach a mediated "political orientation" solution, but the mere delivery of legitimate as well as useless "category wish books".
The main advantage for those who practice this possible interpretation of the consultation is that of being able to say that, each for his own part, is the best defender of the interests, precisely, of part. At the same time, however, this would make a fruitful consultation impossible and, therefore, positive steps forward and the concrete and best possible defense of the collective interest (in this case the natural heritage, the management of the hunting activity and the solution of a theme - damage from wildlife - which concerns the common heritage, but which today is mainly borne by only one category, the agricultural one), with respect to the given historical, social and environmental context.
Legambiente and Coldiretti highlighted how they immediately worked to be constructive, well aware of the current enormous difficulties perceived on individual particular aspects, promoting various meetings, kindly hosted several times at the Federcaccia headquarters and maintained contact with many of the members of the Table for contribute to reaching the first mediated proposals (therefore, not of one party, and, therefore, equally inconvenient to all) that could facilitate the achievement, within the Table, of the unanimously hoped for positive results in the wake of the right attention to the general interest of the Country. In order, therefore, a general framework was discussed that would explain the why and the value of this common umpteenth effort and, therefore, of the first theme placed on the order of business of the Table (the hunting calendar).
In this process, various availability from the agricultural world and hunting associations have been expressed.
Therefore, Legambiente and Coldiretti considered it useful to present immediately, to the members of the Table, the first two documents of "political orientation", mediated and open to the contribution of all, the result of this start of work, particularly trusting in further effective contributions from the representatives present at the Table of both Face (Libera Caccia, Anuu-Migratoristi, Enalcaccia and Federcaccia) and Birdlife (Lipu) and at the level of the European Commission are the protagonists of positive consultations and with the sincere hope that this can be avoided, at the National Table on hunting , the feared danger which, as soon as it was perceived, it was intended to constructively put immediately and preventively to the attention of all, for the sole purpose of dispelling it.
For the moment, the proposals of Legambiente and Coldiretti have had the support of Fare Verde and Arcicaccia, as well as an appreciation by the contact person of the Agricultural Policy Commission of the Emilia Romagna Region.
