As already done on the occasion of the last national electoral consultations, the recognized Hunting Associations and the CNCN - National Hunting and Nature Committee, gathered in the control room, have increased their commitment to political forces at the now imminent European consultations. In the next few days, candidates and political secretariats will receive an articulated manifesto in which, in addition to listing the main positive aspects related to the conduct of a sustainable activity for biodiversity, environment, landscape and economy, such as hunting in Italy, commitments will be requested. precise and concrete to share and bring into discussion at European level to support hunting as a conservation tool.
In the meantime, the hunting room, to remind all the main and effective roles of hunting, has distributed a short manifesto for the 2019 European elections, enunciating six fundamental and concrete principles:
- Hunting is an important tool for environmental management entrusted by law to farmers, environmentalists, local authorities and hunters. The hunter represents, with his activity, one of the main architects of the governance of the territory and the protection of biodiversity.
- The hunting world - as also sanctioned by the European Union - plays an active role in the creation, conservation and restoration of a living and balanced natural environment, in the enhancement of abandoned and peripheral areas, in the eradication of alien species.
- The hunting world is a fundamental element for the creation of a traced food chain of game meat, enhancing a natural resource of renewable quality of our territory, through which to create economy and jobs.
- The economic-employment value of the sports-hunting sector and the sectors connected to it with its almost 100.000 employees, has an economic effect of approximately 7,3 billion euros, a value that represents 0,44% of the national GDP.
- The hunting world, also through the integration of functions and a better organization of ATC, CA, AFV and AATV, can develop significant synergies with the agricultural world in terms of management and development of the territory, thus contributing to the growth of the agricultural enterprise. in a multifunctional context and implementation of the European and national strategy for Biodiversity.
- The next challenges facing the hunting world at European level: - Large Carnivores Dossier - Lead Dossier (REACH procedures) and Micro-Plastic Directive - CAP post 2020 (Common Agricultural Policy) - Key Concept on migratory species
Our request is that these principles and the reality which objectively represents hunting today, find recognition in the political programs for future legislative engagement in Brussels.
