La Regional Council of Umbria, on the proposal of the councilor for hunting Roberto Morroni, approved the hunting calendar for the next 2021 / 2022 season. In addition to the selection hunt, which opened on June 15, the hunting activity will begin on September 19, the third Sunday of the month, with the general opening. The only postponements foreseen are to 2 October for the lark species and al October 3 for the hunted wild boar. As in previous years, the fixed days in September (Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday), the two additional days of migratory hunting in the period 4 October-28 November and dog training from 15 August to 16 September.
"The most significant differences compared to the calendars of the past years - explains the commissioner Morroni - are the cancellation of the wild turtledove among the huntable species, the start of the hunting season on the third Sunday of September, without taking advantage of the possible pre-opening days, and the insertion of the three mountain passes of Bocca Trabaria, Fossato di Vico and Passo Carosina ”. "The will of the regional administration to adopt a hunting calendar that would give a guarantee of solidity towards the appeals, to which they are now regularly subjected the administrative acts issued by the Regions on hunting matters - affirms the commissioner - led to the choice, widely debated and analyzed in the Hunting Faunal Council, not to include the turtledove species for this year.
The lack of this species on the calendar would certainly have caused an imbalance of the hunting pressure in the pre-opening days possibly scheduled. Therefore, it was decided, as shared also by the hunting associations in the Faunal Council, not to foresee for the 2021/2022 season the days in advance that were usually introduced in the first days of September".
