We don't like to rage and we never wanted to write against a sister of ours of passion, but since the provocation is strong and direct at this point it is not possible to remain silent in front of the statements of the regional president of the Arcicaccia Bennati. We have kept silent about the fact that he presented himself in the hunting consultation stating that he did not know the issue of the passes, on whose establishment he did not oppose with us. We kept silent that he was always openly for compliance with the regulations and therefore for the payment of boar damage by hunters. We would have kept silent that in the hunting consultation of 2 August in fact the regional president Arcicaccia willingly accepted both the closure of the three passes and the rejection of the pre-opening. But then that Bennati pushes himself to attack the other associations we consider it comical.
None of the writers' hunting associations has made false information, it is not in our interest to exploit nor to make a political battle of it: we have jointly clarified our positions immediately with documents shared after the first draft of the Region. We would also like to specify that on 23 July 2021 all the national hunting associations, including Arcicaccia, sent a very clear request to introduce the turtledove species in the calendar to all the regional hunting offices, including Umbria., with a reduction in collection based on the average of the culls of recent years, together with a reduction in hunting days. A letter received for information to all the regional associations complete with the signature of the national Arcicaccia.
Now, after most of the Italian Regions are introducing the turtle dove in the calendars thanks to these national indications, it emerges what some associations have been asking for several months, namely that Umbrian hunting cards have not been read for years. so there is no data. Not to mention the delay of last year's badges. It is very serious that attempts are made to unload this guilt on hunters and hunting associations and that the Umbria Region has not read the hunting cards, despite the hunting associations have distributed, collected, preserved and made them available, all completely free of charge. All the associations were absolutely in agreement for the turtle dove and against the closure of the crossings, with the exception of the ARCI, but it is equally undeniable that the reasons for which the possibility of inserting the turtle dove is precluded, are breaches of the Umbria Region.
Without looking for culprits, which by now is of little use, it seems appropriate to start immediately a path that resolves these shortcomings and that leads us as soon as possible to reacquire the turtledove among the huntable species, with particular attention to agricultural cultivation plans suited to its diet which we know to be prevalent with sunflowers. This is how wild animals and those who collect them are helped in a balanced way and not with positions contrary to hunting and a part of the hunters, which unfortunately Bennati even seems to be proud of. And with what purpose and aiming for what future? (Source: Hunting Federation).
