They were 306 the hunters stopped for checks by the forest police on the start day of the hunting season in Umbria. Few infringements: 3 high penalties amounting to 206 euros, which also provide for the seizure of weapons and ammunition for non-compliance with letter and c.1 art 21 law 157/92. Another 8 hunters, however, were sanctioned for irregularities in the Traffic laws. The forest police, as every year, have intensified checks throughout the territory to prevent accidents and check that the hunting day is carried out in compliance with the rules. The Carabinieri Forestry Region Command has foreseen the maximum deployment of patrols: 35 patrols used, with over 80 foresters for hunting services.
Numerous calls were received at the public utility number 1515 and to the single emergency number 112 on problems related to hunting, which required the intervention of patrols. 90% of the requests for intervention by citizens concerned the alleged lack of respect for distances from homes. The request for intervention following a dispute caused by the parking of vehicles between hunters and homeowners should be noted in Città delle Pieve. Controls in general concerned persons and qualifying documents as well as the verification of weapons and ammunition used.
The attention of the military has also fallen on the well-being of dogs and their microchips. A total of 278 checks were carried out; taken as early as the early hours of the morning and will now continue throughout the afternoon. A crime, currently towards unknown persons, found following the discovery of a dead roe deer, a species that cannot be hunted, in the area of Lake Trasimeno. In some areas there was a low presence of hunters compared to first days of other years. Thanks to the uncertain weather, but perhaps also the many controversies that anticipated this start of the hunting season (Even today).
