Hunting: Pisa, "the hunting huts will be included in the urban planning regulations", is the proposal of Silvia Melani, candidate for mayor at the Municipality of Fucecchio.
A recognition for what has been achieved by the provincial councilor for the sector, and the adherence to the requests of the hunters, with a program of commitments as mayor for the near future: these are the cornerstones of the hunting program of Silvia Melani, candidate for mayor for the primaries of the democratic party in Fucecchio emerged during a participatory assembly in Massarella with the provincial councilor Renzo Crescioli.
Over fifty people - including the president of the association Il Padule Paolo Pellegrini, of Federcaccia, Rico Lupi, and representatives of ArciCaccia - took part in the meeting to take stock of the situation of hunting in Fucecchio and in the Marshes. Melani presented the balance sheet of five years of work in the Province and, on the strength of a credibility acquired with concrete facts, presented her commitments as mayor.
“When I applied for the Province of Florence I found the relations between hunting associations and institutions totally compromised - explains Melani - because no long-awaited measures had been taken, nor any consultation in the decision-making processes. That's why after my entry into the Province I went to Massarella with the then councilor Laura Cantini and after 4 years I returned with Renzo Crescioli and a book of commitments made ”. In fact, Silvia Melani's signature bears the document of March 2010 which formally commits the Province to take every decision in agreement with hunting, environmental and agricultural associations, within the Consulta del Padule. Also in 2010 we obtained the Provincial Plan of Protected Areas which confirms the management of the nature reserve through the District, which is committed to protecting, promoting and enhancing it.
"Just as I will continue to act as mayor - adds Melani - through the special body that we will set up for the promotion of the Fucecchiesi excellences (Padule, Cerbaie, Palio, Francigena, historic center, culture)". Other commitments made were the approval of the Hunting Wildlife Plan, which established a silent hunting area in Padule in the lands owned by the Province, which therefore found their destination, and the regulation on agriculture (which will be approved next week in the Province) which already this year anticipates the time of cutting cinnamon, long awaited, from 10 August to 31 July.
A separate chapter concerns the fixed hunting stalks: the Province has approved the regulation by dictating its own hunting rules, as per commitments made 5 years ago. There remain the town planning rules that only the Municipality can indicate. "My commitment as mayor - explains Melani - is to write in the urban planning regulations rules for the construction of new postings and the regularization of existing ones, as historical evidence, through appropriate interventions to be evaluated case by case and without any way authorized volumes.
