Hunting Syndicate on Boar Damage Containment in Campania, “When work pays off”.
With reference to the damage caused to agriculture and the territory by the proliferation of wild boars, the Region wanted, as widely documented in other press releases, also to ask for our presence at the tables that matter and we, with humility, gave our consent (to demonstrate that we are not against the institutions but against those who manage them in an ambiguous and confused way). Well, we went to those tables with humility but not as fake (as, perhaps, someone hoped) and, in our simplicity, we catalyzed the attention, on various critical issues which, coincidentally, were fully acknowledged by the institutions and then become law, with their publication in the Burc of the Campania Region.
The points taken up by our observations are:
1) the implementation of a monitoring program of the wild boar population made for homogeneous areas (including protected territories) and not as done up to now for Provinces, ATCs or Managing Bodies (which gave patchy results that were not comparable to each other );
2) the creation of a regional register containing the total number of killing (performed both in ordinary hunting and selective control), to verify the effectiveness of the actions implemented and the results achieved;
3) the involvement of farmers in this activity (the only ones able to have a clear picture of the problems, areas and sites of intervention and also the first to bear the damage to agricultural production on their shoulders).
In the eyes of most people, these may seem obvious, but these are not such since for decades far more noble associations than us have never proposed a single one of these initiatives, limiting themselves to huddling in their small spaces of power and waiting for others to do that. which instead it was their job and duty to do. It is necessary to thank the Councilor Nugnes who strongly wanted our participation in the work and the Technical-Faunal Office of the SVI which promptly gave its contribution.
When the unbelievers ask us what we are doing for the hunt, they just read the laws, the deliberations and the official acts of the institutions there they will find many of their answers and then ask the question to themselves and ask themselves what they are doing (or their associations) for the future of hunting.
