The age-old diatribe of incompatibility between hunters and visitors to the Parco del Torre in Udine continues, raised by the WWF environmentalists.
Once again the WWF raises the question of the coexistence between hunters and simple patrons of the Torre Park in Udine and raises the alarm to the Municipality, the Region and the Prefect asking to prohibit hunting in the area as it could be dangerous for people who usually frequent the park.
The president of the WWF, Roberto Pizzutti, stated on the issue, "We recall that the Udine Police Headquarters itself confirmed the danger of coexistence between hunters and habitual visitors when, at our request to be able to organize a demonstration inside the park , he forbade it to us precisely by signaling the danger of confrontation with hunters. If this is true for 50 prominent activists, why shouldn't it be true for a far greater number of people who carefree around the park? ".
Continuing, the environmental president said, “To say, then, as hunters do that hunting in the park is not dangerous because there has never been a hunting accident in this area is a risky and unacceptable statement”.
Pizzutti also explained, "The frequentation of the Parco del Torre and this also applies to the area in front of the park located in the municipalities of Remanzacco, Povoletto, Reana del Rojale and Pradamano, where you shoot with rifles that reach up to 3-4 km distance, is in fact more and more intense over time and is certainly greater than in the past, both because there is a different sensitivity in the population, and because the demand for green areas is greater. It is a matter of statistics, the more frequented an area, the greater the risk of accidents. Are we waiting for one to occur before taking measures to limit hunting? ".
Finally Pizzutti concluded, "We therefore reiterate the need for the Authorities, that is the Prefect, the Mayor of Udine and those of the neighboring administrations, to immediately request the suspension of the hunting activity in the Torre Park and in the neighboring areas and that the Region decrees the prohibition".
