In Valle d'Aosta the Regional Council approved the amendments to the legislation on the management of fauna and the discipline of hunting.
Yesterday afternoon, June 6, 2012, the Valle d'Aosta Regional Council approved the bill consisting of 12 articles containing amendments to Regional Law 64/1994 on the protection and management of wildlife as well as on the discipline of hunting.
On the new regulatory provision, the regional councilor Mauro Bieler explained "The bill modifies some articles to strengthen the harmony between the hunter and the areas in which he usually carries out his activity, also introducing a maximum number of elements making up the sections (from a minimum of nine and a maximum of eighty), in order to make the distribution of hunters homogeneous with respect to the hectares of land available ".
Continuing, Bieler said, "The increasingly rational use of prey is then regulated with the introduction of centers for meat processing and the holding of trophies through a de-bureaucratization of the requirements: these are significant innovations intended for the activities of realization of ornamental objects with boxes or for serving menus based on local game. Also very important are the preparation courses for hunting qualification exams, for the handling of weapons and their best use ".
Councilor Giuseppe Cerise also intervened on the issue, commenting “The bill governs hunting more completely. We will vote on this law comforted by the fact that supervision is entrusted to proven professionals such as those present in the Forestry Corps ".
In the same way, the commissioner for agriculture and natural resources, Giuseppe Isabellon, commented on the new legislative provision, explaining that "it was not easy to reach an agreement, as well as the debate both in the Commission and in the hunting world".
In conclusion, Isabellon affirmed “The aim was to implement a 1994 law that needed to be revised also taking into account the changes that have taken place, such as the introduction of selection hunting introduced more than ten years ago. Hence the search for an ever greater hunter-territory bond, reorganizing the districts and sections ".
