04092015-08-082015-08-08Hunting: Venice, the Mestre woods closed to hunters, the Bosco and Grandi Parks Institution regulates its use by the public.
The public use of some wooded areas of Mestre is regulated. This is what was announced by the Board of Directors of the Bosco e Grandi Parchi Institution which in the resolution of last July 23 provides that the following woods: Manente, Zuin, Terronazzo, Campagnazza and Cucchiarina sud (104 hectares out of 230 total hectares), freely accessible from March to August, are closed to the public from September to February, to allow hunting.
The 2007/2012 Hunting Wildlife Plan, extended until February 2016, does not provide for a ban on hunting in most of the woods of Mestre, despite the fact that the Institution had submitted in 2014, with its own observations, the request to establish a Conservation Oasis in all woods of Mestre, thus banning hunting, observations however rejected by the bodies in charge. The new Plan, currently being approved by the Regional Council, should provide for a ban on hunting only in the Zaher and Campalto woods, for which ordinances of the Mayor for a temporary ban on hunting are already issued annually.
Therefore, the Institution, in order to protect the public safety of visitors to wooded areas, has provided for the prohibition of use by visitors during the hunting season and free circulation in the remaining period. To allow the widest dissemination of the regulation of the entrance to the woods, it is possible to consult the opening and closing periods on the website of the Institution Bosco e Grandi Parchi, www.boscoegrandiparchi.it, in order to avoid dangerous situations.
