The Councilor for Agriculture for the Province of Viterbo, Franco Simeone, meets hunters and farmers for the definition of the new Wildlife Hunting Plan.
As part of the preparation of the new Wildlife Hunting Plan, the Councilor for Agriculture for the Province of Viterbo, Franco Simeone, held two important meetings with representatives of the hunting world and the agricultural world.
The commissioner was the first to meet the representatives of the trade associations of the agricultural world, Coldiretti, Confagricoltura and Cia, with the aim of establishing a relationship of great unity and sharing in the drafting of the new management tool by addressing the issue of damage caused to agricultural crops by wild boars.
Attention was therefore paid to the proposal of the councilor Simeone himself, approved unanimously by the entire provincial council, for the establishment of a technical-political table, with the participation of ISPRA, the park managing bodies, the representatives of the agricultural world and hunters, aimed at take extraordinary and urgent measures to minimize the damage to agriculture caused by wildlife.
Simeone's proposal follows precisely the indications of farmers aimed at overcoming the compensation policy in favor of a more efficient prevention activity that can eliminate, or at least reduce as much as possible, the risk of damage.
In the second meeting the commissioner Simeone involved the concessionaires of the hunting faunal companies who presented the settlement and abatement plans to be implemented within the affected areas.
This meeting also had as its main theme the problems linked to the excessive presence of wild boar in the area agreeing on the need to prepare and fully implement a new wildlife hunting management plan capable of giving an effective response to the situation before it becomes a real emergency.
On the meetings with hunters and farmers, Councilor Simeone stated, "I am satisfied with the interest that all the categories involved are showing in the preparation of the new Wildlife Hunting Plan".
Continuing Simeone announced, "On 17 May I will meet the provincial presidents of the hunting associations to complete the picture, collect suggestions and proposals and define a widely shared project, as happened for the new regulation on wild boar hunting ”.
Concluding the commissioner explained, "As I have already reiterated, my main interest is to solve the problems of farmers, hunters and other categories with which I am led to confront myself in the context of my administrative action, guaranteeing the perfect balance between environmental protection and hunting through a constructive dialogue between all the subjects in the field. The interest that I am experiencing in the course of the meetings I have had up to now gives me hope for a broad and certainly positive collaboration ”.
