I'm over 170 hunters controlled by the Provincial Police of Modena, on the occasion of the opening day of the hunt for sedentary game which took place on Sunday 19 September with a good turnout, especially in the hills and plains; hunting for sedentary game, such as hares and pheasants, involves almost three thousand hunters from Modena, plus a thousand from other provinces. THE 18 provincial agents, assisted by about 70 volunteer guards, guaranteed the supervision of the hunting activity also using the pedal assisted bicycles purchased recently, on the basis of a project funded by the Region, which allow a more effective control of the territory.
As Patrizia Gambarini, commander of the Provincial Police points out, «the first day of hunting took place regularly with substantial compliance with the rules established by the hunting calendar. The sanctions issued were four in all, for the failure to use the high visibility garment and for the unauthorized use of a radio transmitter ». The calls were largely due to concern of citizens respect for safety distances.
The Provincial Police reminds that failure to comply with the safety distance of 50 meters for roads and 100 for houses is punished with a fine of 206 €. From 2 October the collective wild boar hunt starts with the methods of "hunt" (minimum 15 people with several dogs) and "turn" (minimum four hunters and one dog) (Sassuolo 2000).
