Lombard hunters rejoiced for a very short time. The Regional Administrative Court has in fact accepted the appeal of various animal welfare associations, blocking the reopening of the coils in this territory. The regional resolution that had given the green light to the new use of these structures dates back to last July, so after two months it is necessary to do step back. The appeal was presented by LAC (League for the Abolition of Hunting), LAV (Anti-Vivisection League), ENPA (National Animal Protection Authority), LIPU (Italian Bird Protection League) and WWF.
In the last few hours, the same associations had also organized a garrison in front of the Lombardy region to challenge the provision on the roccoli. According to the LAC: “The capture of wild birds for hunting from stalking was the subject of procedure Community infringement for the violation of the Birds Directive, but the Region continues undaunted to favor the intransigences of the more extreme and naive fringe of hunters and fowlers, with false promises, issuing illegitimate measures and damaging the wildlife heritage of all of us.
Only a few days ago it was enacted another decree for roccoli, which gives 200 thousand euros (600 in three years) of public money to private entities for the maintenance of these capture plants ".
