The mayor of Venezia, Louis Brugnaro, with a special ordinance, has ordered the ban on hunting in three woods that fall within the territory of the lagoon municipality. It is the Bosco Zaher in Dese (north-east of Mestre to be precise), the Campalto forest and Bosco Manente in Favaro Veneto. As stated on the municipality's website, the decision was made to allow the use of the three woods too in autumn and winter. Among other things, the suspension does not only refer to hunting, but also to the training of hunting dogs.
The ban on Bosco Zaher is not an absolute novelty, as there was an identical choice six years ago. As regards, however, the Bosco Campalto, we are talking about a replica of what was arranged in 2014. The Bosco Manente is at its first time in this sense with its area of 5 hectares: it is a very intensely frequented area, as well as a natural extension north of Zaher, waiting to be included in the game plan for hunting that the Veneto Region is approving.
According to reports by Massimiliano De Martin, Councilor for the Environment, in wooded areas it is necessary to guarantee safety by prohibiting hunting, so as not to compromise safety. THE Zuin Terronazzo, Campagnazza and Cucchiarina south woods will not be accessible to the public from September to February.
