As disclosed by the Italian Federation of Hunting, on the Indiscreto.info site a survey is underway to find out if you are for or against hunting. The association pointed out that these surveys obviously have no value in themselves, but are often used for influence opinions. Our opponents know this well and use them to their advantage, voting compactly, en masse and having friends and relatives vote. We have to see if once in a while if even hunters are capable of making a strong mark.
The title is "Abolish hunting in Italy?". Here is what the promoters of this initiative wrote: “The numbers say that this passion-tradition, which we find it hard to call sport, has been in decline for years. Give about 1.800.000 Italian hunters at the beginning of the Eighties, essentially 3% of the population, the current figure has risen to around 775.000 (ISTAT data based on licenses), 1,2% of Italians today. With the usual very strong regionalization: relating the licenses to the size of the territory Tuscany wins hands down, ahead of Liguria, Umbria and Lombardy, with Trentino Alto-Adige in a praiseworthy twentieth place (also due to the thousand provincial limitations).
In short, hunting in Italy is dying a natural death because the old hunters are less and less replaced by the young. And also the number of fatal accidents, which are also in the news, is very low. Last season a total of 30 dead (including 20 hunters) and 84 injured. It is more dangerous, in absolute terms but also in relation to practitioners, to be a cyclist than to be a hunter. The problem is therefore above all of an ethical type, which does not mean that it is inferior ”.
