Caccia / PD: Statement by Marco Ciarafoni, head of biodiversity and wildlife policies of the Democratic Party on the Astra Ricerche survey.
In our country there is no room for hunting "without restraints and without limitations" but only for "regulated, limited, responsible and sustainable hunting, excluding animal species, areas and periods of the year protected". This is what emerges from a survey carried out by Astra Ricerche and commissioned by Cncn and Face Italia.
The report, presented this morning to the press, however, notes, on the basis of the research criteria adopted, that one in two Italians is against hunting.
"The result of the survey - comments Marco Ciarafoni, head of biodiversity and wildlife policies of the Democratic Party - confirms, if ever there was a need, that, leaving aside the personal and legitimate ethical reasons, there is an enormous space for convergence between those who , starting from different sensitivities, they have the common goal of environmental protection and the reconstruction of the fauna heritage.
The link is the removal of any prejudice and the sustainability of hunting in compliance with the indications of science and European regulations. Exactly the position that the Democratic Party and its parliamentary groups have supported, even in the regions, to prevent the approval of rules that would have favored the deregulation of hunting and the illegal transposition of European directives ”.
"Faced with the results of the research - concludes Marco Ciarafoni - they should reflect those associations of the hunting world that until yesterday supported the propaganda and demagogic campaigns of the League and that part of the center-right aimed at ephemeral feedback on the electoral level and which, at the time itself, they have produced the cultural isolation of Italian hunters ”.
"The Democratic Party will continue its work by avoiding fundamentalisms for or against to maintain the close relationship between conservation hunting, environmental protection and the enhancement of quality and multifunctional agriculture which is also the fundamental premise of current legislation".
