Hunting of poaching and illegal carrying of weapons. The intentions of the man who in recent days was stopped by the Carabinieri of Castellazzo Bormida, in the province of Alessandria, while passing on the SP30 with his own car are not yet clear.
At best he is a poacher who was probably afraid of running out of ammunition and brought with him a real arsenal between rifles and weapons by cutting.
During the check the Carabinieri noticed one on the back seat of the car driven by the man hunting carbine and a cartridge belt full of ammunition; considering that the hunting activity is currently forbidden since the hunting season was now definitively concluded on January 31st, the soldiers subjected the man and the vehicle to a thorough search.
During the inspection, another rifle was found, hidden in the rear trunk, with a magazine stocked with cartridges and with the shot in the barrel, hundreds of ammunition of various calibers, 17 knives of various lengths, 3 cleavers, a hook and two sickles.
From the investigations carried out by the Carabinieri it emerged that the two weapons and part of the ammunition found in the man's possession were regularly detained and reported, while most of the cartridges were illegally detained because they had never been reported.
With regard to the possession of the arsenal, the man admitted that he was a poacher, explaining to the military that he was going hunting even if in a prohibited period for the practice of hunting; in the light of what was ascertained, the Carabinieri denounced the self-styled poacher on the loose and already prejudiced for other crimes, for the illegal carrying of firearms, only one of which caliber allowed for hunting, for the illegal carrying of edged weapons and objects capable of offending, for the illegal possession of ammunition.
All the weapons and material found during the inspection were appropriately seized by the Carabinieri and made available to the Judicial Authority.
