In Viareggio, a poacher was surprised while he was catching birds with bird nets inside a Natural Park.
Yesterday, November 2, a Provincial Police patrol surprised a poacher inside the Migliarino San Rossore and Massacci Natural Park, which extends between the municipalities of Viareggio, Pisa and Livorno, while illegally capturing thrushes and blackbirds.
The poaching hunter, a man from nearby Viareggio, had entered the Bourbon estate, inside the Natural Park right next to Viareggio, and had set up a birding net.
The device for capturing birds had an overall length of about fifty meters and was made with vertical nets that reached a height of about five meters; with this equipment, completely outlawed, the poacher was able to imprison thrushes, merli and other species of birds, to be then assigned to the illegal market for live calls to be used in hunting.
The man was denounced on the loose for poaching by the men of the Provincial Police and the license to carry firearms that he was regularly equipped with was revoked; likewise, the entire birding equipment was confiscated.
