Aida Romagnuolo, leader of the League in Molise Regional Council, called for a selective culling and control plan as for wild boars in the period included between the 2018 and the 2020. The goal is to refine the controls and at the same time approve a regulation for selection hunting. The levy should include at least 2500 heads between June and December of this year and other 5500 in the overall three-year period.
Romagnuolo turned to the new Councilor for Agriculture, Nicola Cavaliere, and to the new governor Donato Toma to face in the best way the invasion of ungulates in this region. The desired plan should authorize the capture through cages and fences, while the killing would be allowed to authorized personnel, without forgetting the fundamental translocation of the wild. The project includes the direct involvement of owners or tenants of agricultural land, asking the same Region for authorization to install the cages or manhole covers.
In addition to the three months of hunting there would be nine months in which to kill the wild boars through all the methods that are required by law, so as to convert the problem into an opportunity. The Regional Agriculture Department will have to train the personnel among the hunters residing in the Molise area, in addition to the census of the heads. Now a response from the local authority is expected.
