The Management Committee of the ATC 13 of Massa Carrara promotes the conference "Obiettivo Lepre" to be held on Saturday 11 February at the Castle of Terrarossa in Licciana Nardi (MS).
“Obiettivo Lepre” is the title of the conference promoted by the Management Committee of the Territorial Area of Hunting Ms 13 of Massa Carrara for the local production of hares for restocking. The purpose of the conference is the presentation of the new project of the ATC3 of Massa Carrara which aims to breed native hares in Lunigiana. The objectives: cost cutting, agricultural involvement and employment.
Lunigiana will be born, the first hare farm to certify Made in Tuscany. This is the goal of the hare project launched by the Management Committee of the Territorial Hunting Area of Massa Carrara which aims to create, in the Land of Luni, a breeding of native hares to be used for restocking that are the result of a careful and rigorous disciplinary production.
The hares, this is the purpose, will be "born" in Lunigiana and will therefore no longer be "imported" and purchased from other provinces and countries with savings on budgets in the first five years of management of about 10%. In times of crisis, an economic opportunity also comes from the hare supply chain that winks at the farmers who will be, this other purpose, directly involved in the management.
To do this and be ready starting from next April, ATC has already published a public tender (it can be consulted on the website atcms13.it) with which it has expressed its desire to rent a dozen hectares of land on which to create for 15 years. the perfect habitat. The land will be used to house the fixed structures for the hares to acclimatise.
The project will be presented during a conference scheduled for Saturday 11 February (starting at 9,30) at the Castello di Terrarossa in Licciana Nardi (MS) during which the aims and repercussions on the territory will be illustrated.
The parterre of reports opened by Valerio Poi (President Atc 13) and by the Provincial Councilor for Hunting and Agriculture, Domenico Ceccotti, is authoritative. In the lineup, the interventions of: Gionni Fiorentini (Atc 13 councilor) on immissions in recent years; Gisella Paci, Professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Pisa on the factors that interfere with the repopulation of the hare; Giuseppe Santinelli, Atc 14 Fauna Commission and Umberto Calvi, Atc 14 Director on hare management experiences; Paolo Bongi on the spatial behavior of two different hare samples (Lepus europaeus) in the Apennine environment and Roberto Verzanini, Atc 13 Councilor on the hare production project for restocking.
