Ruralia 2011 - At via Ruralia 2011, the 28 edition of Ruralia will be held on Saturday 29 and Sunday 10 May (from 20 to 2011) at the Medici park in Pratolino (Vaglia).
Florence, 24 May 2011 - Among the particularities of the two days'Verde', also a special seminar dedicated to'wine taught to children', in which we will try to answer questions such as' why are roses planted in the vineyards?', 'who was born first: beer or wine?'.
They will not fail oil tastings, the farmer market, tree pruning and tree-climbing demonstrations, reptile and mushroom exhibitions. A paradise of rurality, in short, addressed to those they love nature, to those who know and appreciate it and to all citizens in general.
There will be no shortage of the event exhibitions of Chianina, Calvana and Limousine cattle; for the first time an exhibition of sheep breeds: Sarda, Bergamasca and Suffolk. Review of rare pigeons and prized breeds of chickens. Exhibition-market of the products of local companies and courses to learn how to taste the oil. The Mugello Dairy Association and Mukki Latte will organize milking and cheese making demonstrations. And again: the "Village of ancient crafts”, With baskets, spinning tops, stonemasons, potters, farmers and horse shoes. This and much more at the 2011 edition of Ruralia, the fifteenth since the beginning of its long history.
Among the special events of the 2011 edition we point out the Tirabuscio 'tasting workshop (Locanda, Saturday and Sunday from 18.00 to 19.30) led by the journalist and taster Globe Trotter Filippo Bartolotta. The laboratory is aimed at young and old and will present the best wines of the province of Florence, including Carmignano, Chianti, Chianti Classico, Chianti Montalbano, Chianti Rufina, Igt.
The appointment is organized in collaboration with the National Association of Wine Cities and includes tastings reserved for adults and special curiosities for children.
For oil lovers there is the path on "Let's learn about extra virgin olive oil " by the Chemical Laboratory of the Chamber of Commerce of Florence: the tasting 'lessons' with the excellent oil of our territory are held in the Locanda on Saturday and Sunday, at 10, at 12, at 14 and at 16 (duration: 60 minutes ).
Among the topics that will be covered, in addition to the actual tasting, also 'what is' extra virgin olive oil ', 'how to produce', 'knowing how to read the label'. Present among the exhibitors of the Paggeria, also the representatives of the Saffron Association of the Florentine Hills, who will present the main methods of cultivation and use in the kitchen of this spice.
