A little less than two weeks ago the networks opened at the ringing station on the island of Ponza. In fact, the official debut took place last 11 March, with very efficient operatives and volunteers who assembled the transepts, assembled the ringing tent and prepared the basic apartment as far as this station is concerned. The first ten days were characterized by good weather and constant sunshine, with the wind very calm, although the last weekend was slightly cloudy.
The weather was therefore mild and every day an average of 200 birds were captured, to be precise 15-20 birds per turn. The biometric analyzes and the recognition of age and sex have been carried out calmly: the species are so far numerous, with a step that can be defined as "varied". In particular, the ringing concerned robins, stonecaps, small whites and thrushes.
In the second week of the opening of the station, then, the prispolone also landed, while in the last days a beautiful example of castagnolo forapaglie. After two weeks the balance is certainly positive and now new profitable days are awaited, which will also be reported via Facebook from the station.
