In the last few hours an amendment to the Budget Law has been presented by the Democratic Party which provides for the taxation of owners or keepers of dogs that are not spayed. The goal would be to find the necessary funds to finance municipal activities against stray dogs. L'Italian National Dog-loving Body (ENCI) he strongly challenged this tax and made it known through an official statement that he will work in every location and with every tool to block such a hypothesis.
The amendment also speaks of an exemption as regards the dogs owned by professional breeders, but in case it becomes a real law, to pay would be the breeders who produce a limited number of litters every year and owners of purebred dogs.
In practice, we are talking about subjects that have nothing to do with stray dogs, on the contrary they contribute to promote dog lovers in our country. ENCI recalled the commitment of these breeders and owners, whose sacrifices (including economic ones) make it possible to integrate dogs into the Italian social fabric in the best possible way. The entity will then promote the protection of all lovers of dog lovers.
