La Directorate General for Agriculture of the Lombardy Region published yesterday, Friday 8 September 2017, the Decree 10796, which contains some determinations on the hunting calendar 2017-2018. In particular, it concerns the reduction of the levy as regards larks, fighters, tufted duck, pochards, lapwings, ptarmigan and quail.
The aim is to protect the fauna and a specific reduction has been made for each species. In detail, for the lark (the withdrawal is allowed from 1st October to 31st December) the daily and seasonal game bag per hunter must not exceed 10 and 50 animals, while for the fighter the hunt must be suspended after examining the situation of the bird.
The Lombard hunters, then, must not exceed 40 heads for the seasonal game bag of the tufted duck, 5 and 25 heads (daily and seasonal game bag) for the pochard, and 5 and 25 more for the lapwing. They will not be subject to withdrawal the sub-populations of ptarmigan whose production index is less than 1,5 young people for each adult. Then there is the quail game bag: hunters will not have to take more than 10 animals per day and 50 during the season. Other limitations they can be arranged by next 20 September.
