The two dates for the census at the roar of the deer in the province of Bologna. As announced by the Territorial Areas of Hunting, it is September 19th and 22nd next, days in which the calls emitted by the males to attract the females will be detected. The activity will be attended by hunters qualified for selective collection and also by enthusiasts.
In the Bolognese area, more precisely in the territories of the Northern Apennines ranging from Reggio Emilia to Forlì, censuses have been held every autumn since 1994. The organization is never simple and the volunteers involved are traditionally around a hundred. The required hours are three, that is from 21 to midnight, with the detectors recording the bellowing along with data on orientation and distances. On the basis of the information collected, then, the bellowing males will be calculated, estimating the numerical size of the population.
On 19 September the appointment is scheduled at the Parco dei Laghi, in the BODC2 of Bombiana and BODC3 of Camugnano districts. On 22 September, however, we will also meet in the districts BODC1 of Grizzana, BODC5 of Monte Sole, BODC4 of Monzuno-Monghidoro and BODC7 of Monghidoro and Monterenzio. This year it was decided to add also the area of Lizzano in Belvedere-Altoreno Terme.
