There is no peace for any Italian region, at least from a hunting point of view. Not even Sardinia was saved as it had to deal with the latest ruling of its TAR, a decree published yesterday, Thursday 14 September 2023. What did the island's administrative judges decide? The pronunciation is easy to say.
According to the Court, the Sardinian hunting calendar relating to the 2023-2024 season must be suspended with reference to quail hunting. In particular, the text provides for the start of this withdrawal on September 17th, therefore in exactly two days. The animal rights and environmentalist association Earth did not like the choice and appealed.
The TAR therefore accepted the request to suspend the harvesting of quail in Sardinia, therefore this species cannot be hunted in the region before next October 1st (the date that ISPRA had indicated as most suitable according to its non-binding opinion) . The next hearing has been scheduled for October 5.
