Unanimously approved, in Molise regional council, the proposal of the councilor for hunting, Nicholas Knight, of extension of the hunting levy of the wild boar species in collective mode. The resolution was brought to the council and voted on yesterday. The regional executive resolved to postpone the end of the period allowed for wild boar hunting to January 30, 2022. Another two weeks or so, available to strap-on hunters, which in operational terms translate into six or at most seven possible hunts more, given that it is possible to go out hunting only three days a week.
“The damage to agriculture is considerable throughout the region, it is significant the loss of production, due to the high number of wild boars, road accidents are frequent, with serious danger for the safety of citizens and the impact on the regional budget of the sums due as compensation for damages is significant ", reads the investigation of the resolution. It is also noted that "the hunting year 2021/2022, nearing its conclusion, was strongly influenced by the exceptional rainfall in the autumn period throughout the region, which resulted in a marked reduction in hunting days and their effectiveness in order to contain the presence of wild boars and the obtainable sampling, in the consolidated and monitored statistical terms ».
«Consequently, in the face of the critical issues identified, it is desirable an intervention to support agricultural activity, certainly not feasible on natural phenomena that can only be detected and not caused by man. - the investigation closes - But the intervention is conceivable with an exception to the hunting rule on the time frame of sampling at invasive species as an immediate activity for numerical containment with support and prevention of agricultural crops ".
