I Sardinian hunters they promised and kept their word. The stalemate on the island as regards the extension of the hunting season and the silence of the institutions led to a street demonstration that will take place Saturday 21 January 2017 in Cagliari. As you can read in the document published by the Hunters of Sardinia on their Facebook page, the procession will start from Via Roma 145, that is the seat of the Municipality, to reach Viale Boncammino 3, the seat of the Prefecture.
The event will take place from 10 to 14 and the numerical forecast of the participants speaks of approx 1500 people. The protest is the last act of hot weeks of discussions and controversies, given that the island hunting associations want clarity on the reasons for the failure to grant the extension as regards the thrush sampling, as happened in other Italian regions.
This difference in "treatment" immediately made us think of a situation of a political nature and the procession is the natural consequence of what is considered yet another abuse of power against Sardinian hunters and the commercial activities of the sector. There hunting thrushes, blackbirds, woodcocks and snipe ends today, Sunday 15 January, despite some Regional Administrative Courts have established that it is necessary to fix one extension. In regions such as Lazio, Marche and Tuscany, the deadline is expected at the end of the month.
