The Brambilla does not even like the colleagues of the PDL, the Hon. Sergio Berlato thus promotes a petition against the former Minister.
Hon. Sergio Berlato, Member of the European Parliament and Provincial Coordinator of the Vicenza PDL, promoted a petition to be signed by all the institutional representatives of the PDL to request the intervention of President Berlusconi and the National Secretary Angelino Alfano so that the Party clarifies that the utterances taken by former minister Brambilla are to be considered as positions expressed in a personal capacity and which neither involve nor commit the Party.
Hon. Sergio Berlato had already promoted a similar initiative against the former minister Brambilla, collecting the signatures of all his colleagues who are members of the PDL in the European Parliament. A similar initiative has seen the collection of signatures of over one hundred deputies and senators of the PDL, tired of having to see the enormous haemorrhage of consensus that the PDL undergoes due to the utterances of the Brambilla against hunters, against breeders, against farmers, against the Palio di Siena and other traditional events which for various reasons involve the use of animals.
After the further recent utterances by former Minister Brambilla, the Hon. Sergio Berlato decided to promote a petition that collects the signatures of all Party leaders, even at the peripheral level, who are tired of being accused by their constituents who will no longer vote for the PDL if the Party does not distance itself from Brambilla.
Hon. Sergio Berlato explained "In a large popular party such as the PDL it is understandable that differentiated positions may emerge on some topics, just as it is understandable that someone within the Party tries to chase after an animal rights electorate that historically is to the left.
The observation that unfortunately we are forced to make is that the positions publicly expressed by the former minister Brambilla, far from removing votes from the left electorate, certainly cause disorientation and disaffection in many electorate bands historically linked to the center right, such as farmers, breeders, hunters, fishermen, business owners, organizers and participants in fairs and markets, serious and moderate environmentalists who shy away from any form of fundamentalism.
Berlato then specified "I will limit myself to talking about what I know and the experience I have lived and I am living as an institutional representative of the PDL always and only elected with the preferences (never nominated) for two legislatures in the Veneto Regional Council and for three legislatures in the European Parliament.
If the Party does not take a position against Brambilla by distinguishing its personal positions from the positions of the Party, the haemorrhage of consensus that the Party has already suffered due to the fundamentalist animal-environmentalist positions of the former Minister Brambilla will be further aggravated at the next political elections, a deadline that we hope will give citizens the right to choose their representatives in the national Parliament, as is the case for all administrative and European elections.
If the right to choose their own representatives with preferences is returned to Italian citizens in the next political elections, we will be curious to see how many votes the former Minister Brambilla will return to Parliament.
Below is the full text of the Petition promoted by Berlato:
To the President Hon. Silvio Berlusconi

The following subscribers, institutional representatives and members of the People of Freedom,
- Considering that the entire parliamentary Delegation of the PDL to the European Parliament has already signed and sent a document to the President and the National Secretary of the Party asking that the animal rights positions of the former Minister Brambilla be distinguished from the official positions of the Party, clarifying that the positions taken by former minister Brambilla are to be considered as positions expressed in a personal capacity and which neither involve nor commit the Party;
- Considering that a similar initiative was activated in the Italian Parliament, with the adhesion and signing of over one hundred deputies and senators of the PDL;
- Noted that certain excessively fundamentalist positions expressed by the former Minister Brambilla against hunters, against breeders, against farmers, against the Palio of Siena and other traditional events which in various ways involve the use of animals, have provoked and continue to causing an enormous haemorrhage of consensus to the detriment of the Party;
- Understanding that in a large People's Party such as the PDL, different positions may emerge on certain topics;
- Noting that someone within the Party is trying to run after, with poor results, an animal rights electorate that historically is placed on the left, with the only result of removing an important part of the center-right electorate;
- Noting that many leaders and many institutional representatives of the PDL are forced to receive continuous complaints from many voters who announce their decision not to vote for the PDL if the Party does not distance itself from the positions of the former Minister Brambilla;

TO THE NATIONAL EXECUTIVES OF THE PEOPLE OF FREEDOM
- to distinguish the positions expressed by the former Minister Brambilla from the official positions of the Party, also to avoid that these positions, far from removing votes from the left electorate, continue to cause disorientation and disaffection in many electorate bands historically linked to the center right, such as farmers, ranchers, hunters, fishermen, business owners, organizers and participants in fairs and markets, serious and moderate environmentalists who shy away from any form of fundamentalism.
