La House of Representatives approved the bill for the reform of the self-defense. The government benches were characterized by the presence of only members of the League, while there were none of the 5 Star Movement: 373 votes were in favor, while those against it stopped at 104, in addition to the two abstentions. There was no lack of high tension, in particular the Forza Italia deputies showed some banners in which the words "Finally a center-right thing" appeared.
The official launch of the text, however, must wait a further vote, namely that of the Senate. The passage could have been avoided but there were some problems that required yet another procedure before the final ok. The party that lashed out most against the provision was the Democratic Party, while at the political level some fractures have emerged in the yellow-green government.
The bill provides in particular for the legitimacy of the defense at home in the hypothesis of a serious disturbance in the owner. Furthermore, with this reform it was decided to tighten the current penalties envisaged for a series of crimes, such as theft and housebreaking. According to the detractors this is a "liberalization of the Fa West in Italy" and there is a fear of a too easy sale of arms.
