In the last few hours we are talking about the alleged decline in hunter priests over the last three years: according to what was reported by the animal rights association AIDAA, in fact, from the 2014-2015 season it would have passed from 200 to less than 40 priests who have renewed the hunting license. Waiting for a confirmation of the numbers, there is a hunter priest who has a very precise idea of the animal rights themselves. It is about Don Dario Sittoni, 85 year old parish priest of Mocheni Valley, one of the valleys located in the province of Trento.
In fact, during a mass, Don Sittoni spoke to about forty hunters in Virago, inviting them to forgive the animal rights activists. The priest has been a hunter for a long time 60 years, a passion born even before becoming a priest: he was already forced to deal with an animal rights blitz against him and hunting activities, as well as a protest against the St. Hubert's mass organized by the hunters in the cathedral. After recalling the advancing age, Don Sittoni stressed that animal rights activists are people to be forgiven, as they do not know what they say and live in a different context from that of hunters.
Furthermore, they have lost common sense if they keep putting a roe deer and a domestic rabbit on the same level. According to the parish priest, nature is in a weak position, but the problem will not be solved by either hunters or animal rights activists. Finally, the last quotation during the Mass was touching: "In ancient times, hunting was called a noble art, with all due respect to animal rights activists, but it is up to us to be noble and respectful".
