Farewell to Arms. The number of hunters collapses: almost halved in 15 years. This is the title of an article that appeared in these days in one of the most authoritative national newspapers which outlined a worrying situation regarding the continuous decrease in hunting activities in Italy. There are several hypothesized causes, from the regulations in force that are too penalizing, to the drastic reduction of the territory on which to exercise the hunting activity, to the economic constraints that penalize above all hunters who belong to the category of retirees. Actually this article it does not examine one of the main causes of vertical collapse occurred among practitioners of hunting in recent decades.
The first of all is the lack of generational turnover due above all to the systematic work of disinformation carried out by anti-hunters against the younger generations, starting from schools where it is often taught that everything is lawful or permitted, except being children or grandchildren of hunters. Too many times our children or grandchildren return home from school saddened, if not crying, because the teacher told them that they must be ashamed that their parents or grandparents are bad because they kill little birds or bambi for fun. Right from here we have to start again for reverse the trend towards a drastic reduction in hunting activities: reconstitute our generational change if we don't want our passion to die with us who have our hair more and more graying.
In schools, the exponents of the jagged archipelago go to talk about our activities, almost never in a positive way animal-environmentalist but the representatives of the hunting world almost never go there. We must guarantee our children and grandchildren the right to be properly informed in order to be free to choose whether or not to exercise the activities carried out by their parents or grandparents (Hon. Sergio Berlato - President of the Association for Rural Culture).
