"The laws must be changed: game predators must be contained in some way." Word of Giuseppe Boidi, president of the management committee of the territorial hunting areas (Atc) Al1, which refers to Casalese and Val Cerrina, and Al2, a vast territory from Alessandria to Novese and Acquese. As in all of Piedmont, hunting began yesterday also in province of Alessandria and hunters have many complaints, as Boidi explains. "First of all - says the president - as elsewhere in our two ATCs there are fewer hunters". To be precise, according to the Region, A1 has passed from 727 of 2018 to 709 and in A2 from 886 to 822.
According to Boidi, the cause “is the too complicated mechanism foreseen for admissions of hunters to the ATC. Other problems concern the actual hunting activity: the new rules require the release of game, especially pheasants, on the territory in late spring, earlier than in the past. We have yet to assess whether this allowed the animals to survive a hot summer and with little water available". Furthermore, underlines Boidi, «repopulation through the established zones and capture (zrc) fails to give the desired results because there are too many predators.
The law needs to be changed to allow fox, wolf, crow and other species to be contained. The alternative is to resort to throwing game which never guarantees acclimatization of animals, as opposed to when the reproduction takes place on the territory ». Finally, the president of the two Alexandrian ATC highlights "the increase in wild boars and roe deer that bring more and more damage to agriculture". Even in the Apennine ATC there are fewer hunters: in the Al3 (Tortonese, Val Curone and Val Borbera) from 1459 to 1392, in Al4 (Acquese, Ovadese and part of Val Lemme) from 1300 to 1243. For the president Roberto Prando, the responsibility is in particular of the 10% limit to forane hunters, that is, coming from other Regions: «The new regional council has given the Atc the possibility of partially derogate from this limit.
There is no point in limiting the influx of hunters from neighboring regions. The rule of the former councilor Ferrero was against hunters and is now expected to be revised or repealed ». The drop in fans is visible to the eye, according to Prando: «Watching the Atc Al 3 it is evident that there are fewer hunters on the territory". Also in this ATC attempts are being made to provide prey to hunters: 1.300 red partridges and 300 partridges have been introduced, «for now not huntable. Next year we will carry out a census to assess the situation ”, concludes the president of the two southern areas (La Stampa).
