The provincial areas selected in this case are three. These are the Alto Lario, the Intelvese and the Larian Triangle, that is to say the areas in which at least two wild boars per hundred hectares of land have been counted on average. Furthermore, as explained by the Province, the killing and the selection must take place only through the use of the hunting rifle and special traps with food-type baits. The Intelvese area mentioned earlier hosts an important mountain community in the Como area, whose capital is San Fedele Intelvi: it is an area dominated by the Val d'Intelvi and the western shore of Lake Como, with the municipalities of Cernobbio and Tremezzina among the most famous.
The Larian Triangle, on the contrary, is wedged between the two branches of the same lake, with the Briantei lakes of Alserio and Eupilio-Pusiano representing an ideal base: the territory is rich in landscapes, of admirable variety. Wild boars and their damage have been discussed with some urgency for several months in the province of Como. Until recently, in fact, animals used to appear only at night and kept away from inhabited centers, now things have changed in a worrying way.
In particular, as reported by the Lombardy regional section of the Coldiretti, can be encountered in broad daylight, becoming a problem for the agricultural sector. In 2012, for example, the Lombardy Region was forced to pay more than two million euros in compensation due to damage to crops and road accidents. In addition, from 2005 until last year these same compensation exceeded sixteen million, figures that are no longer sustainable from a financial point of view. Incidentally, boars are responsible for approx 600 thousand euros in damages and a good 200 thousand euros refer to road accidents.
The damage created by wildlife in the province of Como (including pigeons) for the year 2015 slightly exceeded 30 thousand euros in total, of which in the Lariano Triangle in Bellagio 1 only Cervo created damage for 4.600 euros. (The undersigned present as a member of the damage commission asked for it to be eradicated, while someone argued that it should not be demolished) I do not know why the blame must always be attributed to the Boar alone, when the blame for damage to crops in the Larian Triangle is to be also attribute to Cervi, Fallow deer, Mouflon, Caprioli.
As they say in Brianza (ul Cinghial al ga la Vuus, ul Cerv al mang i Nuus) I translate into Italian the Boar has the reputation of being the proponent of most of the damage, the Deer and the other ungulates instead eat walnuts, (i.e. do the facts).
a warm greeting
