Three days ago, Tuesday 14 November 2017, the vote was taken in Lombardy Regional Council, the motion calling for the closure of the hunt due to the fires last summer. The text was presented by Clare Cremonesi, director of SEL, and refers to the 800 hectares of woods destroyed by the fires and to the five species of birds threatened on a global scale. The councilor had also spoken of the indications of the ISPRA regarding the closure of the hunting activity for the protection of wildlife.
Federcaccia Brescia he recalled how everyone has the right to express their opinions, but the arguments had to be better explored in this case. For example, Cremonesi has not shown that he knows that drought favors the birds and this year there has been a record migration step as far as that is concerned thrushes and cesene. The motion was rejected by the Lega Nord, Forza Italia, Lombardia Popolare, Fratelli d'Italia and councilors Tomasi and Baldini voting against.
The votes in favor were instead those of the Democratic Party, Lista Ambrosoli, Movimento 5 Stelle and Cremonesi herself. The intervention of the councilor Alessandro Sala he remarked that there is no need to exploit fires, also because the phenomenon is regulated by a discipline and very rigid constraints.
