Regarding the press release that appeared in recent days regarding the distribution and distribution of "pheasants" in the Pistoia area, the President ofATC Pistoia 11 states: "With surprise, bewilderment and regret I read the utterances of the member Carlo Maltagliati to whom the criterion of allocation of game. The reasons for the current distribution of the animals in the Pistoia area do not only concern the relationship with the number of hunters per area, but above all in compliance with the technical criteria and therefore in relation to the host territory, the best chances of survival of the game introduced and hunting use.
Seeking the highest survival success is a specific duty of this institution because it is, without a doubt, the most efficient and effective way to use the economic resources destined for the wildlife restocking of the sedentary game. The Pistoia area is divided into three large areas: Montagna Pistoiese, Piana Pistoiese and Valdinievole; the latter area occupies 26.500 hectares of land, the mountains and the Pistoia plain, on the other hand, occupy 70.027 hectares. The division of the head is divided as follows: the Valdinievole will go to 2.120 pheasants, Montagna Pistoiese 1.400 pheasants and the Pistoia plain 1.480 pheasants.
As can be seen from the data, Valdinievole occupies just 28% of the provincial territory and is an area with objectives difficulty in hunting determined by the strong urbanization, nevertheless more than 40% of all purchased pheasants are placed there. I want to clarify that over the years no hunter has ever complained about the subdivision so organized. I honestly don't understand how you can go beyond this number except for reasons of 'populistic personal consent' to the detriment of the resources of all Pistoia hunters. This data makes it clear that the member Carlo Maltagliati did not understand the complex work carried out by the technicians, by all the district heads, by hunters who have been using these criteria for years and by the other members of the Committee who democratically approve these choices.
I also express my support to the component Antonino Calantoni (President of the Small Game Commission) who, since his first establishment, has always worked and committed himself throughout the Pistoia area. in order to ensure optimal management of resources always offering maximum availability to all interested parties. In the next Committee we will deeply analyze this episode and if necessary we will evaluate any actions in the appropriate fora against external parties. data interpreted in an arbitrary manner that only harm hunting and hunters ”.
