Hunting in the World: hunting safaris are completely banned in the territories of Costa Rica in Latin America and in the territories of Zambia and Botswana in Africa.
No more sport hunters in Costa Rica: since 11 December last hunting activity has been totally banned indefinitely by the country, with a law that was the first in Latin America to mark an incredible step forward in the protection of biodiversity. Severe penalties are foreseen for offenders, who will have to pay a fine of up to $ 3.000 and 2 or 3 months in prison, while penalties are also foreseen for those responsible for trafficking in wild animals or keeping them as pets. For peace of the very precious local fauna which includes, among others, rare tropical birds, monkeys, sloths, bats, tapirs, deer, anteaters and jaguars.
On the other side of the planet, in Africa, also Zambia and Botswana (from 1 January 2014) will follow in the ten-year footsteps of Kenya by banning sport hunting, in order to protect the local fauna severely tested by the hunting tourism industry. And so lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos and buffaloes, the "Big 5" most requested in African big game safari, they will be able to sleep peacefully, as long as they remain within the political borders of these countries: outside the guns await them with open arms.
