The regional section ofAbruzzo di Italhunt has asked the Region for an extension as regards the hunting calendar relating to the 2019-2020 season. The association would like the sampling of thrushes and woodcocks to last another twenty days compared to what was set, moving the deadline from the 31 December 2019 to the 20 January 2020. The activity started late, last October 2nd to be precise, and therefore the days were too few.
Here is what Italcaccia wrote about it: "The conservation situation of the woodcock has therefore changed for the better and this happened in a period in which the species was hunted in Italy, France, Greece, Spain and other Mediterranean countries up to variable dates between January 20 and February 20, it follows that the hunting continued up to these dates has not compromised in any way the conservation of the species. And the same goes for the song thrush (Turdus vhilomelos), the redwing (Turdus iliacus) and the fieldfare (Turdus vilaris).
Considering work commitments, family commitments, bad weather and whatnot, he goes hunting no more than 4/5 times a year, if we keep in mind that the cost for the license and other legal obligations, apart from the paraphernalia, is about 500 euros, it means that you spend, roughly, 100 euros per issue. A little too much for a passion that some call sport, no? ”.
