Hunting in Liguria: with a new ordinance, the TAR modified the suspension of the Liguria Hunting Calendar by making some changes to hunting methods and periods.
In yesterday's meeting, 17 October 2012, the Second Section of the Liguria Regional Administrative Court issued a new suspension order with which the Liguria Region Hunting Calendar valid for the 2012-2013 Hunting Season is partially suspended.
The new ordinance follows the previous suspension issued with an urgent precautionary decree of the President of the Regional Administrative Court on 17 September last, to adhere to the contextual requests to the appeal presented by the environmentalists of WWF, Lac, Lav, VAS and LIPU, with which some hunting methods were suspended.
In particular, the opening of the hunting for sedentary game and the thrush hunting; in addition, the weekly days for the migratory hunt in the months of October and November. In the collegial session in the Council Chamber held yesterday, the judges of the TAR examined the urgent provision of the President of the TAR, thus formulating a new suspension order.
With the new provision, the TAR has made further changes to the Ligurian Hunting Calendar as regards hunting periods and methods.
In particular, Pheasant hunting can be practiced until the end of November 30th instead of the end of December; as regards the hunting of ungulates, such as wild boar, roe deer and fallow deer, this can only be practiced with non-toxic ammunition therefore free of lead.
This latter provision follows the line of other regions such as Molise not only because of the appeals presented by environmentalists but also in light of the latest studies on the toxicity of lead in the tissues of the meat of shot game. There are other types of ammunition on the market that use other types of metal such as steel and copper that have no contaminating effects on the environment and on the meat of the slaughtered garments.
Finally, the new Tar ordinance contains provisions regarding the number of weekly hunting days that can be dedicated to migratory fauna on which interpretative doubts have arisen which will be clarified shortly by the administrative judges themselves.
