Yesterday, Tuesday 15 January 2019, the Lombardy Regional Council approved one motion which concerns i opinions of ISPRA (Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research) on hunting. As explained by the deputy leader of the League, Floriano Massardi, the environmental issue has now been reduced to a contrast between those who are in favor and those who are against hunting.
The sector boasts one million employees and represents 1% of the gross domestic product, consequently it cannot be constantly “the victim of an inefficient and short-sighted body”. Opinions are the bone of contention, especially as regards hunting by derogation and live calls. For Massardi these opinions are valid beyond technicality and scientificity, as well as being spoiled by political convictions. There would be contradictions with respect to what happens in the rest of Europe and even in other Italian regions (Veneto in primis).
The League then voted in favor of the motion to initiate the necessary actions to recover ISPRA the just and impartial role. Another objective to be achieved is to strengthen the supervision by the Ministry of the Environment on the institution. Finally, Massardi asked for the referral of the institution to the judicial authority in case the necessary opinion for the distribution of the huntable quantities is not sent also in 2019.
