La Regional Federcaccia of Sicily and the Wildlife Hunting Environmental Management Office of the same association announced the publication on the Region's website of the notice that was addressed to hunters as regards joining the "Lepre Italica" project of hunting season 2018-2019. The goal is once again the continuation of experimental hunting in various provincial districts, specifically in the Messina, Palermo and Agrigento areas.
These are precisely the areas of the island where the project has had its successful implementation last year. Consequently, it should also be extended to the other Sicilian provinces and to the Territorial Areas of Hunting, primarily through the training and collaboration of other resident hunters. The full name of the project is “Towards the sustainable hunting of the Italic Hare in Sicily” and in 2017 it took shape more and more. The withdrawal was authorized only to licensed and licensed hunters by a specific provision of the competent Territory Office.
Furthermore, for the communication of withdrawals, the possession of the digital hunting card, in addition to the classic paper version. The relative abundance indices have illustrated how the Italian hare can be hunted on an experimental basis: each hunter was given the opportunity to collect two heads, complete with the collection of biological samples (the maximum number of specimens has been set at 48).
