The regional sections of Veneto and Friuli of Enalcaccia, Federcaccia and Arci Caccia they distanced themselves from the poachers after the intervention of the NOAVA agents who identified a gang that was shooting down chamois, deer and roe deer in Friuli Venezia Giulia and then butchering and selling meat right in the Veneto area. According to the three hunting associations, these illicit behaviors damage the image of hunters.
The investigation led to allegations against seven people. Local hunters have raised the alarm: unfortunately poaching is back in fashion and the NOAVA has only two employees available to ensure supervision. We need people to be employed at night and who are capable of go beyond bureaucratic checks. According to Arci Caccia: "We must continue on this path rather than just looking for bureaucratic errors, because by simply checking if the cross has been indicated in the right way in the forms, you end up hitting the honest ones".
The convictions against what poachers did between Friuli and Veneto took place without ifs and buts, in the hope that this investigation can be an example to conduct others. Finally, for Enalcaccia, the commitment has always been based on guaranteeing selection hunting for ungulates in some areas of Friuli, as is the case in Austria based on censuses.
