The Agriculture and Agri-Food Resources Department of the Calabria Region announced the approval of the amendments to the specification of wild boar hunting. As explained by the governor Mario Oliverio, this is a fundamental step towards resolving the emergency represented by ungulates, given that the increase in the population has caused imbalances and damage. The changes will allow you to take wild animals even in unassigned areas, without forgetting the possibility offered to individual hunters to increase hunting pressure.
According to what was reported by Mauro D'Acri, regional councilor with responsibility for Agriculture: "We aim to improve the hunting of wild boar on regional territories, preserving the work of many agricultural entrepreneurs. As for the areas not suited for wild boar, that is the areas in which the presence of the wild boar is considered incompatible with the protection of agricultural crops and wild species, wildlife-hunting management is not allowed, but various interventions aimed at controlling the species, explained in detail in the specification ".
Hunters who intend to hunt wild boar in single form in non-suitable and / or unassigned areas are required to notify the Management Committee of the Territorial Hunting Area to which they belong and to the Hunting sector of the Calabria Region, which reports to the Agriculture Department.
