As recalled by the Confederation of Tuscan Hunters, the approval of regional hunting calendar it was the result of a long period of confrontation that saw numerous critical issues on the table to be overcome in order to reach a positive synthesis for hunters and above all focused on legal certainty. The hunting calendar does not present particular differences from what for years has been the setting maintained by the Tuscany Region. We would also like to underline how Councilor Marco Remaschi has actually accepted the proposals made in recent weeks by the Confederate Associations and the CCT, maintaining the political will of not to yield to the specious requests / invitations of the Ministry of the Environment, for the elimination of the Pochard and the Lapwing (to which a similar request was added also for the Fighting species) from the list of huntable species.
A firm position, which we want to underline both for the political importance but also for the technical / scientific reasons connected to the Ispra opinions, which as known, provide ample guarantees for the removal of these species. Another aspect of equal importance is that inherent in the maintenance of the closing dates of the hunt on 31 January for the woodcock species and for the turdids (song thrush, redwing and cesena). In particular on the woodcock species, in recent weeks, thanks to the in-depth work of the Migratory Birdlife office of the National Federcaccia, we had sent to the offices in charge further technical scientific documentation in support of the dates indicated by the calendar to date. Similar documentation has also been provided on numerous other calendar species.
Regarding the wood pigeon, without prejudice to the no hunting forecast in the pre-opening period, we firmly believe that the decision on the withdrawal limit on January 31st represents a balanced choice. The possible extension of the hunting levy to first ten days of February, from some proposals, would have in fact produced a substantially negative result since, in order to respect the maximum time frame, the sampling of the species would have started from 1 October. Therefore, in addition to the evident negative effects on the wintering population caused by a possible extension of the hunt to 10 February, we would have had to give up the entire period between hunting this species. between the third Sunday of September and the 1st of October (8 potential hunting days in February would have led to a loss of about 12 days in September) with evident negative effects for migratory hunters practicing wood pigeon hunting in the field and also for hunting in step on the first contingents arriving at the end of September .
With regard to the hunted wild boar hunt, the calendar provides for differentiated openings in the various provincial realities in the period 1 October - 31 January; unchanged compared to the past, the methods of carrying out the hunt in single and with the turn for non-suitable areas remain unchanged. For wild boar selection hunting, always within non-suitable areas in the periods of hunting in hunt, it is inserted a buffer of 400 meters between dedicated and non-dedicated areas, in which only hunters registered in the teams will be able to carry out selection hunting for wild boar. The 100 meters provided for the posting of posts in an area not suited for hunting in hunted areas have also been maintained. Dog training and training confirmed starting from 18 August on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays which, according to Law 20, must be carried out at the times provided for in the registration ATC.
The pre-opening will be governed by a specific resolution; the dates of the 1 ° September (for hunting turtledove, corvid and starling species) e September 8th (corvids and starlings only). Another positive news is that of having provided for the non-return of the paper hunting card to the municipalities by hunters who last year had opted for the use of the digital / Toscaccia hunting card. The only negative note concerns the maintenance of a maximum game bag of 50 head per year for the lark species. These are substantially the main contents of a calendar that we believe substantially meets the expectations that above all keeps faith with the commitments undertaken in the various moments of consultation by the Department. After the positive results that emerged in the recent Regional Hunting Conference in Braccagni (Grosseto), a further positive step forward is being made today which bodes well for the future.
