La new European decision on measures relating to avian influenza has just been made public and includes a number of indications in this regard the use of live calls. Compared to the versions popular in the past, this time the recalls themselves are not absolutely prohibited by the EU. This means that they can be used safely throughout the Italian territory. The prohibitions, however, can be re-decided in case of high risk. Until now, live calls were allowed only after the granting of a derogation by the member state, while now things have changed.
Prohibitions must take over after a critical epidemiological situation, a difference that for Federcaccia is substantial. L'ACMA and the FIDC Bird Migration Office have written to the Ministry of Health for some requests. First of all, the goal is to have a note that clarifies the use of calls before the start of the hunting season.
Also, you should maintain the obligation of traceability as regards individuals, as happened with the exceptions. Finally, the establishment of a working table to deepen all these topics: the hunting world will therefore be decisive and thus provide its contribution to the discussion on management in the event of new outbreaks.
