Arci Caccia: the Woodcock Championship in Città di Castello (PG) successfully concluded; Franceschini with Zeta and Vadorini with Freda the new champions.
Città di Castello is the most important and populated center of the Upper Tiber Valley. Custodian of a precious historical, religious, artistic and cultural heritage of absolute importance, Città di Castello is part of an environmental system that allows it to be a migration route for important bird species. Among these there is certainly the woodcock. It is no coincidence that for years now that the Arci Caccia Csaa has entrusted one of the most prestigious dog / sporting events to these extraordinary territories: the hunting championship (without killing) on woodcocks for pointing and hunting dogs. This year the competition, now in its twelfth edition, has met with considerable participation success if the figure of 97 registered dogs, coming from all over Italy and divided into ten batteries, is placed in the bed of the particular specificity of this type of hunting. Full success also thanks to the indomitable and precious coordination of Giampaolo Zandrini who in the preparation of the event made use of the help of trained and expert guides: Fabio Falleri, Gabriele Faloci, Luigi Falleri, Romano Bianconi, Egidio Biagioli, Roberto Tognoloni, Walter Boni, Andrea Rosadoni, Mirco Pagnotta, Carla Fiorucci, Marioli Valerio, Maestri Mario, Locchi Fernando, Gracci Stefano perfectly assisted by the president of ARCI Caccia di Città di Castello Alberto Alunni and his collaborators Marcello Falcinelli, Silvia Cecchetti, Lorenzo Ruggeri and Dario Baldelli. They also have the important task of preparing the event through preventive censuses useful for establishing the areas where they can release the registered dogs. And that everything has been prepared in the best possible way is attested by the fact that, with the judges' books in hand, 14 woodcocks flew up.
There is no doubt that the habitat on which the championship takes place is unparalleled; everything seems to have been made on purpose to accommodate the woodcocks, and many of the competitors have used this with great skill, so much so that of the 10 heats only four have not been ranked. This does great honor to all the participants who presented dogs of excellent means and well prepared. Four Englishmen went to the barrage and Alessandro Franceschini's English setter ZETA, who came second last year, this year, in addition to confirming her great skills, dominated the scene and won the Italian Championship.
Behind him dogs with great potential, such as Genefrido Micheletti's SI Appia came second and Miguel Balduini's Nora SI came. Alessandro Veltroni's SI Leisgo and Luigi Ghironi's Ago SI also proved to be excellent scorers and only a few nuances did not bring them full success. In the continentals, another female, Freda DTR by Vadorini, with an action in the highest note and with a search of excellent order, wins an excellent well resolved point, graduating with full merit as Italian Champion. The hunting dogs, present with as many as 13 subjects, in the 2014 edition, while giving the best of their great ability to meet, unfortunately they were not lucky. For them no meeting with the queen of the woods.
The award ceremony was very well attended and the reports of the judges, Flavio Marioli, Ugo Pucciatti, Salvatore Piedepalumbo, Federico Tosti, Giancarlo Massari, Domenico Verdecchia, Massimo Marini, Neri Matteo, Giampaolo Zandrini and Marco Pensalfini, Filippo Ubaldi were much applauded, a sign who have fully grasped the values on the field. The Championship ended with great satisfaction of the competitors. Important consents for the intervention of the regional president Arci Caccia, Emanuele Bennati, who illustrated the initiative and the project that Arci Caccia and the CSAA are carrying out on the canine front in a framework of enhancement of the management of the territory and strengthening of the unity of the hunting world. We are already looking to the future and Arci Caccia is committed to building it with dog lovers and hunters.
