You do not need Nature Reserves to live and make live the Prenestini Mountains and Agro Tiburtino, serve the men of good will: In this regard, the President of the Castelli - Rome District, Edoardo Tagliacozzo, declared: "We are guarding the territory and denouncing the attacks resulting from the speculation of environmental degradation, fighting every episode of poaching, even with the commitment of our Volunteer Guards. The question we ask it's very simple: it is necessary to subtract about 25 thousand hectares falling in 15 municipalities of the Prenestini Mountains in the presence of hunting and wildlife control activities as planned and regulated by the laws.
We are the first and, sometimes, the only ones to watch over rare wild species, present. In Lazio we have a qualified regional law for the management of wildlife that found inspiration in the writing of a great scientist, Augusto Vigna Taglianti, who unfortunately passed away. Knowing, taking a census, protecting are also our will which, often, do not coincide with the will to prohibit. The establishment of Nature Reserves in the areas of the Municipalities of Castel Madama, Palestrina, San Gregorio di Sassola, Castel San Pietro Romano, Gallicano nel Lazio, in the Tiburtina forest area, Rome (Municipio VI Roma delle Torri) with the “regional Agro Tiburtino-Prenestino” Nature Reserves risk causing serious damage to the local populations and to the outskirts of Rome, because a corridor for the wild boar species would be created without interruption.
Witness is the faunal situation that derives from the explosion of the presence of the "Wild boar species". The damage to agricultural crops which, we hope increasingly qualified, the dangers to road traffic, are there for all to see. Today it is scientifically proven that the lack of control that the hunting activity exercises, leads this species to contaminate small urban centers and puts the outskirts of Rome at risk from the point of view of health for people, for livestock activities and for agriculture. We do not want to forget the phenomenon of "straying" and the presence of feral dogs, with the dangers for farmers and people who come to hike in our countryside, bringing resources.
Good hunting is a defense and coexistence with these activities. We will work, even in the difficulty of the pandemic, in strict compliance with the rules, to promote an awareness campaign on these issues aimed at citizens, the Region, the Mayors, the categories concerned, other hunting associations, ATC so that our territories are protected and allow everyone to live them in compliance with the law. Being a hunter is being on the side of the environment, without ifs and buts.
