"Violation of privacy", "Invasion of territory", "Vandalism" and "Private violence": these are the accusations that the hunters make to the exponents of the Meta di Biella who, during each hunting trip, come in groups to disturb the hunting activity. It matters little to the animal rights activists led by the Biellese Valerio Vassallo that now the trade associations of hunters have decided to take sides to protect those who decide to file a complaint. Vassallo and his friends, not at all intimidated, promise new sit-ins in the Biella woods.
"The hunters accuse us of violating their privacy when we film them while, with rifles on their shoulders, they search for their prey: they should know that the shots we take with mobile phones are disclosed always covering faces»Explains the representative of the movement. The leader of the group also rejects the other accusations: «When we disturb the hunting activity we avoid any physical contact with the hunters: there is no violence as there are no acts of vandalism". In fact, animal rights activists have been accused several times of cutting the tires of the hunters' cars. «It is easy to point the finger at us, but among us we know that among the same hunters and mushroom hunters, there is no lack of quarrels and teasing - says Vassallo -. Puncturing a tire is against our principle of environmental protection».
Convinced that they are on the side of reason, the Meta group does not seem at all worried about the possibility of having to appear in court. «Our activities are legal: we verify that no shooting near homes or along roadways - explains Vassallo -. Then it's true: while these gentlemen are hunting we do everything to disturb, but this is not a crime ». In this period we are also witnessing the autumn migrations of birds. «A fact that has always attracted many hunters: this is why, today more than ever, we have to keep our breaths on their necks - he concludes -. We are moving between Masserano, Casapinta, Vallemosso and Ronco. On the plain, however, we are among the woods of Cerrione and Verrone. We invite anyone who cares about the fate of animals to continue this disturbing activity with us "(The print).
