The latest sightings of wild boars in Lanciano (in the province of Chieti) pushed the mayor Mario Pupillo to issue an ordinance for the capture and killing of ungulates, specifically those that represent a danger to public safety. The municipal text explains how in recent months reports from Abruzzo citizens have increased: encounters with wild boars in urban and nearby areas, but also in the appurtenances of houses and in public places have been repeated over time.
Furthermore, the times of sightings were not what one might expect from the wild animal, in the course of the night, therefore the emergency has been made even more serious. The authorization of the ordinance refers to the capture and killing of wild boars found in the wild and which represent a potential threat when they cross over from their territories and approach the inhabited center.
