Wild Boar Festival, I Sentieri dell'Allume from 07 / July / 2011 to 10 / July / 2011 Piazzale Cesare Moroni, Allumiere (ROME)
With this project our Association intends to make known our past as one of the most industrialized countries of the 500th century; considering the importance that alum has in this historical period. The discovery of this exceptional mineral allowed the Papal State to free itself from the purchase of Turkish alum, upsetting the political and economic balance of the time. Alum represented for the economy of the time what oil represents today, in fact it was used for tanning leather, fixing colors on fabrics, as a hemostatic in medicine, etc. etc.
We therefore want to make known the location of the quarries, the different extraction methods used over the centuries; through itineraries with a strong landscape impact such as the passage through the immense and stupendous “Faggeta” of Allumiere, a very particular event given that the Beech is born at heights of over 1000 meters, while our country barely exceeds 500 meters. The visits will not neglect the food and wine aspect, in fact it will be possible to taste the typical dishes of the mine workers.
Acquacotta - Beans with pork rinds - Grilled meat. All accompanied by yellow bread, extra virgin olive oil and local wine.
